Barnburner Soundboard Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Barnburner Soundboard app for iOS and Android, made by Caffeinated Firefly LLC. The policy for this website lives at caffeinatedfirefly.com/privacy.

The short version

Barnburner has no ads, no selling of data, and no Barnburner account. Everything you create in the app stays on your device unless you turn on the optional Google Drive sync, which copies your boards to your own Google Drive — never to us. The app sends us a small amount of anonymous usage analytics so we can tell which features matter — and nothing in those events can identify you or anyone on your team.

What stays on your device

There is no Caffeinated Firefly server that receives your content. Your teams, boards, audio tracks, and anything you type — team names, track titles, settings — are stored on your device and are never sent to us. If you turn on the optional Google Drive sync (see below), they are also copied to your own Google Drive — an account only you control. Analytics events deliberately exclude typed text: we never collect names, titles, file names, or any other content you enter.

What the app collects

Anonymous usage analytics, consisting of:

• A random identifier the app generates the first time it runs. It is not your name, email, or device advertising ID, and it is never connected to your Google account if you use sync — so it cannot be linked to you.
• Which features are used — for example, that a track was played or a warmup was started. These are counts and choices, never content.
• Device model and operating system version, app version and build, and your device's language and timezone.
• Approximate location (country or city level), derived from your IP address when events arrive at the analytics service. The app never accesses your device's precise location.

What the app doesn't collect

• No advertising identifiers and no tracking across other apps or sites — on iOS there is no tracking prompt because there is nothing to ask about.
• No session recordings or screen captures.
• No contacts and no precise location. Your audio never comes to us — with sync on, tracks are copied only to your own Google Drive.
• No names, email addresses, or phone numbers.

Google Drive sync (optional)

Barnburner can sync your boards across your own devices using your own Google Drive. It is off until you sign in with Google and turn it on. When it's on:

• Your boards and their audio are copied to your Google Drive, under your own Google account. They travel directly from your device to Google — Caffeinated Firefly has no server in the path and cannot see, read, or access them.
• The app uses Google's drive.file permission, which only lets it see files it created itself — never the rest of your Drive.
• Your Google sign-in, and the token that keeps it active, is stored securely on your device and is never sent to us. Analytics are never connected to your Google account.
• Files in your Drive are governed by Google's privacy policy. You can turn sync off in the app at any time, remove Barnburner's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and delete the synced files from your Drive — they are yours.

Device permissions

• Photos — requested only if you choose a photo as a team logo. The image is stored on your device and never uploaded.
• Microphone (iOS) — a declaration appears because the app's audio playback engine references microphone APIs. The app never records audio and never asks for microphone access.

Who processes the data

Analytics are processed on our behalf by PostHog and stored in the United States. We don't sell the data or share it with anyone else.

Your choices

The app does not currently offer an in-app analytics switch. The events are anonymous by design: we cannot connect them to a person, which also means we cannot look up or delete "your" events on request. If that changes, this policy will change with it.

Children

Barnburner is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children. Analytics describe only how the app's operator uses its features; no names or content about anyone ever leave the device.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
